Born 1968, lives in Zürich (Switzerland).
As one of the most demanded European drummer and improviser, Lucas Niggli plays in various bands including «Steamboat Switzerland» (with Dominik Blum and Marino Pliakas), Barry Guys London Jazz Composers Orchestra and Blue Shroud Band.
He toured all over the world and has performed the works of contemporary composers (Olga Neuwirth, Sam Hayden, D. Dramm, M. Werthmüller) and taken part in several crossover projects with such musicians as Andreas Schaerer, Aly Keïta, Butch Morris, Sylvie Courvoisier, Charlotte Hug, Fred Frith.
He is playing on more than 60 CDs, most of them on INTAKT Records, teaches at the University of Arts in Zurich (ZHdK) and is promoter of a concert series for contemporary music.
